Lawn Bowls
The aim of the sport of Bowls is to get your bowl closer to the jack than your opponents bowl. Bowls is played on a square green and is split up into playing areas called rinks.
Players take turns to roll their bowls from a mat at one end of the rink towards a small white jack at the other end. Bowls are designed with a bias so that they take a curved path towards the jack. A good result when the bowl takes a correct line and with the controlled weight.
One shot is awarded for each bowl that is closer to the jack than your opponents.
There are different formats to the game. Usually games are played as singles, pairs , triples or fours. In singles the winner is first to be awarded 21 shots. In pairs, triples or fours the highest scoring team after a set number of ends is declared the winner.
